Biography
They were the first actual band that played in the city to put out a CD in 1993 called What Do They Here?
The Ministers of Persuasion was originally assembled by lead vocalist Bob Lorkowski late in 1990 for a New Year's Eve performance at Crocks N Rolls. The original lineup included Mike Schan on Drums, Kingsley Murray on Guitar and Vocals from the band Stranded, and Garrett Nesbitt on Bass and Vocals, Alex Jecchinis on Guitar and Vocals, and Bob Lorkowski on lead Vocals who came from local alternative act Heb 160. In March of 1992, Jechinnis and Nesbitt decided to pursue other interests and were replaced by Marco Meniconi on Guitar and Chris Hartley on Bass and Vocals. The Ministers performed regularly at many local clubs including; Crocks and Rolls, The Boda, The Office, The Outpost and the Crest Hotel. The Ministers received additional attention due to winning the 1992 CKPR Starsearch competition. This gave the band the opportunity to be featured on the nationally distributed CD Homegrown which received a good deal of local airplay. The band also participated in a number of local T.V. variety shows including Rockin and Reelin and The Glen and Ginny Jennings Show, performed on the CF Telethon, and produced two videos for the nationally broadcast T.V. show Up and Coming.
In June of '93 the band released a ten song C.D. of original material, What Do They Here?. It was featured on 94FM's Canada Rocks, CBC Radio, and a number of campus radio stations. The band continued to write original music and perform locally including a sold out show at The Outpost in September of '93 and at Cambrian College in Sudbury.
The Ministers also had the opportunity to open for a number of national recording acts including: Teenage Head, Econoline Crush, The Leslie Spit Treeo, Ray Lyle and the Storm, and a sold out show opening for funk rockers Bootsauce.
