The band was originally formed in the Shuniah neighbourhood of north end Thunder Bay (then Port Arthur) in 1965. With the addition of bass guitar in 1966, the line up was finalized as Five Too Many, playing local dances and parties.

This was from the outset an all-instrumental group, covering guitar-based tunes of the day by the Ventures, Shadows, Arrows, Esquires, Tornadoes, etc. The Forslund brothers were particularly adept players - notably Ken on drums, with his strong jazz background. As they became more widely known, Bob left the band to concentrate on his education and the group slowly began to add vocal tunes (mostly from Dahl and Mortensen), in response to requests. The band was briefly known as the Miled Reactions, before settling in 1967 on The Mindfeel. Heavily influenced by emergence of The Who – a perfect fit for their own crisp guitar driven sound and Forslund's thundering drum technique – the Mindfeel continued until the departure of Dahl (to Merriday Park) in 1968. Their final show was at the Our Lady Of Loretto Church hall in Current River, in the spring of that year. They left no known recorded output. Rick Mortensen and Ken Forslund went on to work with George Gregorovich (formerly of George and Marnie).
