Wax Philosophic Biography
Contents
Wax Philosophic was formed late in 2000 by; Reach (Jarret Schilke), D-Cyphur (Derek Desa), Sheik (Darren Desa) & Jenero Sanus (Bryan Johnston). At the time, Reach was off in acting school at The Neighbourhood Playhouse in New York City, D-Cyphur was at McGill University in Montreal Quebec learning the ropes to become a doctor and Jenero was in Winnipeg exploring his creative side looking for direction musically while Sheik held down the fort back home finishing up a portion of his teaching degree. The three tried to correspond on coming home at the same time so that they may play shows together and to work on new endeavours at the same time, the first of which was a show at The Apollo late in December of 2000. Jenero did not take part in the show but he was supporting the cause from the audience, beer in hand. The first show was a success and thus started a fan base. It was only up from there, playing shows throughout Thunder Bay for some community events, opening for other groups or events, competing in a local talent battle and of course, doing countless shows on their own allowing other groups to get their name out there as well, and not hiphop groups either. As a group they loved local talent and wanted their shows to be as diverse as possible, thus meeting all types of groups and genres hiding in the crevasses of Thunder Bay.
Flashback...</b>
In 1996, Reach & Jenero met through a class in high school. With Jenero's disinterest in mathematics came a creative satire of disruption for Reach's aspirations in academics. The duo teamed up after school with one of Reach's friends, A-Tax (Elijah Harp) & The Syntactics were formed which began the ball rolling toward the veiled future of at least two of these three. Jenero wasn't one to jump the gun on live performances as well as distributing recorded works until confidence and ample preparation had been achieved. Reach on the other hand being a life long lover of the stage, thought differently. The Syntactics never made it to a stage, but they do have a couple of recorded tracks & basement tapes out there.... NEVER TO BE FOUND AGAIN!

<u>Present Day
Now here we are today, steadfast as a group, still separated by distance but still very much on the same page with their thoughts of the future. Reach, a working actor in Toronto, D-Cyphur a working teacher's assistant in his respective doctoral field, and Jenero working in the trades as a plumber (of sorts) throughout Southern Ontario. All still dedicated to their music, all still climbing and climbing up their musical beanstalk. Played shows outside of Thunder Bay multiple times, associating with musicians and live performers bringing a whole new feel to their music.
